The MA in Journalism, Media & Globalisation is an internationally renowned double degree programme that brings together leading universities and a diverse, global student community. Jointly offered by LMU Munich and an international consortium of partner institutions – including Aarhus University, the University of Amsterdam, City University of London, Charles University in Prague, , and other prestigious universities worldwide – the programme offers an unparalleled opportunity to study journalism and media in a truly global context.
Co-funded by the EU’s Erasmus+ Programme, the Master combines academic excellence with cross-cultural exchange, preparing graduates for careers in international journalism, media management, communication, and research. Students spend their first year at Aarhus University in Denmark, where they complete core courses in global media studies, journalism theory, and advanced research methods. In the second year, they transfer to LMU Munich to specialise further, benefit from the university’s strong academic and professional networks, and immerse themselves in one of Europe’s most vibrant media landscapes.
The programme is designed for aspiring media professionals and researchers who wish to critically engage with the challenges and opportunities of global journalism in the digital age. By combining theoretical foundations with practical insights from multiple media systems, it equips graduates to operate confidently in an interconnected, fast-changing information environment.
